Exciting Volunteer Opportunity at a School in France – Starting October 2024

Volunteer Opportunity

Description

Our school is seeking a dedicated volunteer for a nine-month period starting in October 2024. This is an exciting volunteer opportunity for individuals eager to engage in diverse activities within our school environment. The volunteer’s responsibilities will include participating in classroom activities and various school projects. Key duties include:

  • Active participation in classroom activities
  • Involvement in the school’s newspaper and radio projects
  • Providing pedagogical and language support to students in English and German classes
  • Utilizing the eTwinning platform with students for Erasmus projects
  • Capturing photos and creating films for the school’s website
  • Assisting with school initiatives such as the second-hand shop
  • Planning and implementing personal solidarity projects in collaboration with other volunteers
  • Engaging in midday and lunch activities with the assistance of teachers
  • Undertaking individual small projects based on personal interests

Accommodation, Food, and Transport Arrangements

The volunteer will reside in a furnished apartment on the school premises, shared with another volunteer or language assistant. The apartment includes a shared kitchen, bathroom, toilet, and washing facilities. The volunteer will have access codes for the building, ensuring easy access. A bus stop directly in front of the school provides free and convenient transportation to the city center. Volunteers can either dine in the school canteen or prepare their own meals. A small office equipped with a computer will also be available for the volunteer’s use.

Training During the Activity

Volunteers will participate in comprehensive training sessions organized by the France National Agency, including an on-arrival training and a mid-term training. Additionally, volunteers will join three regional training sessions alongside other volunteers from various hosting organizations. These include:

  • A three-day on-arrival training
  • A one-day mid-term training
  • A two-day pre-departure training

Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn French through an online platform or by attending French lessons at IMEP in Bourges.

Participant Profile

We welcome applications from individuals aged 18 to 30 years old who have completed their high school education. While experience working with children is beneficial, it is not mandatory. The volunteer’s personal skills and interests will be taken into account, and a personalized schedule will be created in collaboration with the volunteer. We expect the volunteer to actively engage in and commit to the assigned tasks and activities, cooperate with staff members, and show a willingness to learn French.

How to Apply

To apply, please send your application (CV and cover letter) via email by September 15th. Selected candidates will be contacted for interviews, which will be conducted via Zoom with the school director and two teachers.
